Work then pool

We hadn't been out to work for a little while and everyone wanted to see Sakura, so we headed out for a bit. Sakura is still in the "stranger danger" mode, and didn't warm up for about 1/2 hour, but then she walked around and 'socialized' with everyone, waving, EATING, etc.
After we returned home, Sakura went down for her nap, then I thought she'd enjoy a little fun in the sun - pool time. Sakura would live in the pool if we would let her.
Here are a few pictures from Sakura's pool time.

Drinking the water
Saying "ahhhh"
Later in the evening, Sakura wanted my phone, I handed it to her - and then Daddy noticed that Sakura had picked up her own phone and made a few phone calls to all of her friends!

Hi!

Sunday = Funday

"Wish it were Sunday...cause that's my Funday"....

Sunday was a Funday at our house. We started the day by filling a kiddie pool we bought for Sakura being that she s the water so much - yes it is more full than it should be, but since Mommy was a lifeguard/swimming instructor we figured it was still quite safe! Sakura's little whale pool has a spout that sprays water, and she thinks that is pretty cool. I should mention that it was about 109 degrees on Sunday, so I'm sure that 'cool' was thoroughly enjoyed!

Sunday evening Sakura and I had some pictures taken at the park with some friends. I will post those pictures as soon as I can (below Sakura and I were getting ready for our session), afterwards we enjoyed a trip to DQ for an ice cream - like I mentioned it was a HOT day, Sakura did great for photos despite the 105+ temperatures!

Here is our girl with her very 1st ice cream cone - she normally has bites of ours, but I thought a kiddie cone was in order so that's what she got!

First "bite" :)

Enjoying her cone.

Sakura has this ladybug finger puppet - she usually just hands me the puppet, I put it on my finger and "fly" it around making noise at her, but I was in the kitchen doing dishes and Sakura came up to me with the puppet ON her finger showing me that she knows what to do.

16 months old!

I actually took these a week or so ago, and never blogged them - so thought I might as well :)

Sakura is 16 months old! Where does the time go?
She is very mobile now, walks everywhere, and almost runs (as you can see by the picture below) she loves water as I have said before, Sakura headed straight to the pond, and was quite upset when I wouldn't let her get in!

"Roar" - J/K! Sakura was really just smiling big - quite proud of herself walking up the hills!

Sliding down by herself, she wasn't real sure!
Happy 16 months Sakura chan!

Happy Memorial Day!

We have had a busy few days - Memorial Weekend!

First of all Happy Memorial Day to all of you - a very special thanks to our troops, past and present, who do what they do so that we can enjoy all of the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted every single day!

Sakura enjoyed being a "criminal" for a few minutes -
ironically she was wearing black and white stripes!

Walking to the car with Daddy - purse on arm - she rarely leaves home without grabbing that.

Lunch after Mom and Dad had their haircut

Sleepy girl fresh from her nap enjoyed a few minutes of snuggle time with Daddy.

Pool time with cousin David - Sakura enjoyed finally meeting her cousin David, my brother's youngest - only one cousin to go - Zakkary and he will be here in a few weeks. My brother Matt and his family are moving closer - at least in the same state now! Matt got a job in Tucson and he drove down with David last week. We are SUPER excited that they will be close enough to actually get together from time to time!

Testing the water with Daddy. Isn't Sakura's swim suit the cutest?
Thanks Heather, Sakura looks adorable!

Swimming with her cousin!
If you look closely you'll see Sakura's lip quivering and turning blue - it was COLD! Unfortunately Sakura didn't mind at all and threw a FIT when I got her out. Poor Sakura! She was exhausted and feel asleep before dinner even.

Boys and their toys - we bought David a Super Soaker

which as you can see Uncle Dean enjoyed!

Oh the drool ---
Sakura is cutting a molar and OMG she is like an open faucet! She is luckily keeping drool bibs on much better than she did when she was younger, so we don't have that many changes of clothes, but boy she gets SOAKED - no need for the toy super soaker at our house!

Daddy and his girl

We found a spot at the shopping center that has these "fountain" things for the kids to play in, since Sakura enjoyed it so much at Sea World a couple of weeks ago, as well as
California Adventure I really wanted to take her here....as you can see she thoroughly enjoyed it!

Headed for the water!

Lovin the water

Loved these pictures of Sakura trying to catch the water!

Splish Splash

She even tried to crawl into the fountain!

Summertime Fun

Sakura enjoying time at Katie's - I can't tell you how very lucky I am to have one of my very best friend's watch Sakura while Dean and I work - we know how lucky we are and appreciate Katie (and her family) so much. Here are a few pictures Katie took of Sakura.

Katie said to Sakura "Time to go and get Nicole and Samantha from school",
naturally you must take a book and your purse. Katie said that Sakura grabbed just a random book off the shelf, along with putting her purse on --- this girl LOVES purses!

Let's go swimming - Samantha (L), Sakura, and Nicole (R)!

Testing the water!
Thankfully Katie has a cover, so it's more like a nice bathtub :)

Favorite toy and packing

This is probably Sakura's favorite toy (Papa and Gramma Janie got it for Sakura for Christmas) - she loves to carry her barn to us, have us squeeze the little animals and can even mimic the cow sound - but she doesn't say "MOOO" she keeps her mouth closed and makes the sound that this cow makes - it is quite funny to hear her.

Carrying her barn

Guess Sakura is ready to take another trip. Tonight while I was putting away Sakura's laundry, she went over, grabbed her Hello Kitty purse and started putting in her pj's. I hollered for Dean to grab the camera and get some pictures. Here is Sakura putting her purse on her arm - she LOVES purses!

Ready to go

Packing her pj's.

Croup Stinks and gifts from Japan!

Sound asleep on our way home from the Dr.

Well Sakura had an emergency trip to the Dr. today. She has had a fever for several days, it would go away with Tylenol or Motrin and then return - today at the Dr. it was 102.9. Poor Sakura - Dr. Amon diagnosed Sakura with 'Croup'.

Croup, which is marked by a harsh, repetitive cough similar to the noise of a seal barking, can be scary for both children and their parents. After all, attacks of croup may jar your children awake at night and leave them gasping for breath.
The harsh, barking cough of croup is the result of swelling around the vocal cords (larynx) and windpipe (trachea). When the cough reflex forces air through this narrowed passage, the vocal cords vibrate with a barking noise. Because children have small airways to begin with, those younger than age 5 are most susceptible to having more symptoms with croup.

It was very nice that this afternoon a package arrived from Japan that Sakura LOVES! Inai Inai Baa on DVD that Uncle Yasushi sent (and they PLAY on our portable DVD player! YAY!!!), a cute musical toy with Guton on it, which plays the Inai Inai Ba song, along with a few other songs - a cute plush dog that is the main character in Inai Inai Baa - I don't know his name, and an Inai Inai Baa book! Sakura was happy when she woke from her nap and I had her gifts set out in her chair, she spotted them right away and pointed!

Gifts from Uncle Yasushi

(the dog plays Peek-A-Boo with little magnets in his hands to cover his eyes, Inai Inai Baa translates to Peek-A-Boo)
